The Sokoto state Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Dr. Jabir Sani Maihula, has encouraged Muslims to build mosque for Allah.
Dr Jabir Sani Maihula gave these encouragements while addressing Muslim faithful at Friday Jumu’at prayer as a guest Imam at Muhammad Kabir Ibn Yusuf Mosque, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport Abuja, where he explained the role of the masjid in Islam to include a place for prayers, glorification, centre for learning islamic rulings among other activities being done in the mosque, as demonstrated by the Prophet (pbuh).

He sited saveral verses of the Qu’ran to include Surah An-Nur (24:36): “…in mosques which Allah has ordered to be raised…”,
Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 261: “The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed of grain which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies a reward for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing”
Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 265: “And the likeness of those who spend their substance, seeking to please Allah and to strengthen their souls, is as a garden high and fertile: heavy rainfalls on it, but makes it yield a double increase in harvest…”
Dr. Jabir Maihula maintained that the Hadiths from Allah’s word says “Whoever builds a mosque for the sake of Allah, like a sparrow’s nest or even smaller, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise” (Ibn Maajah).and Whoever builds a mosque, Allah will build a similar one for him in Paradise” (Muslim).

Islamically, the Building of mosques is considered a form of Sadaqah Jariyah, a continuous charity that brings rewards in this life and the next.
Dr Maihula while inaugurating the newly built female mosque quoted Surah At-Tawbah (9:18): “The mosques of Allah shall be maintained only by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day..” and called for timely mentainance and the restoration of the mosque’s glory as he encourages all to build just like the Sokoto state government built and donated the female section of the mosque.

Highlights of the Jumu’at prayer was the official cutting of tape at the Female building for spiritual use, by Dr. Jabir Sani Maihula on behalf of Sokoto state Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto and the donation of the building to the management of the mosque, while Prayers where also offered for the goodness and prosperity of individuals and the country.
